Early Key release featuring live performances of some of the label’s artists. The biggest draw here would have to be the two cuts from London hard-rockers Out Of Darkness: ‘Closin’ In On Me’ (which appeared on their painfully rare lp) and ‘One Man” where Judy MacKenzie sings lead (the song also appears on her Key debut). Judy has a couple other songs on here as do The Trinity Folk which I think is an early incarnation of Parchment. Their feisty raw brand of folk is in stark contrast to that of Carol, John & Aubrey whose quaint mellow harmonies open side two. Jamaicans The Overcomers display their Caribbean influences on their high-energy performance. Sounding like he crawled off a Monty Python set is the delightful obnoxious Tony Hemmings with some inscrutable nasal—voiced comedy routine called ‘The Notices’. And Nigel Goodwin returns from his appearance on Alive! to recite one of his poems: ‘God And The Prime Minister’. A wonderful snapshot of the 1970 British Jesus music scene. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
