Oasis (Genesis GS 5002) 1978 Australia *
Obscure debut from Australian rocker and later head of the respected Avion. Oasis has a couple Avion-styled rock tracks but for the most part is tamer than their lps and Waller’s follow-up Midnight Fire, with a greater emphasis on jazz rock and acoustic ballads such as Phil Keaggy’s ‘Things I Will Do’ and John Michael Talbot’s ‘Would You Crucify Him’, all brought to life by Waller’s elegant guitar leads. Backing him are Steve Wyatt on piano, Rob McMurry on drums, Roger Harlon on bass, Chris Neal on synthesizer, and Michael Houghton with occasional flute and sax. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the inside gate-fold and rear cover photos.
