Reflections (Southern Cross SC 1005) 1971?
Totally home-made slice of blues-pickin’ gospel-preachin’ Americana. Begins with four down-to-earth acoustic folk-blues covers of ‘I Shall Not Be Moved’, ‘When I’ve Laid My Burden Down’, ‘Old Gospel Ship’ and ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine’, with good rustic blend of guitar, dobro and harmonica. Next, the album totally shifts gears for three sermon-in-songs entitled ‘The Creation’, ‘The Crucifixion’ and ‘The Judgement Day’, featuring dramatic hell-fire readings over piano accompaniment. Get this: he even works the theme from ‘In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida’ in there! Closes with a traditional piano-backed version of ‘How Great Thou Art’. This here copy came in a cover with a generic sunset/tree photo, no text anywhere, totally blank on back. Chuck has also recorded some non-religious lps. See also Genesis One in the EP section. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
