The Tom and Dan Three Man Band (Sentry Custom no #) 1974
Pulling in third member Rick Meyer for this first-rate custom production. Similar folk/pop style to the their FEL lp, but with a simpler more hands-off natural acoustic emphasis. The innocent hippie flower-power touches are still there, primarily from the graceful flute work, soft electric piano and trippy synthesizer, together with the fragile sincere harmonies, poetic lyrics and sparkling 6 and 12-string acoustic guitar. Stirring melodic songs ranging from playful and wispy to gentle, dreamy and melancholy. No real obvious direct Christian themes this time as the guys rather reflect on such topics as friendship, nature, love, harmony and simple pleasures like magic shows, going to the circus and putting together puzzles. ‘Sunshine Bay’, ‘Finger Wheels’, ‘Rich Man, Poor Man’, ‘I Hope Your Sun Comes Out’, ‘Particular Autumn’, ‘Leaving For Dakota’, eight more. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
Might the title be Magic Show?
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and the song list.
