It’s Been A Long Time A’Comin’ (Pickwick International PIP-6810X) 1971

Street Christians-front

A touch of Jesus Christ Superstar, a pinch of Edwin Hawkins, a dollop  of that ‘One Tin Soldier’ sound — it’s soulful rock and pop with some kick, surrounded by brassy commercial arrangements that squarely reflect the AM radio style of the times. ‘(Next Time You Think) Think A Jesus Thought’, ‘I Just Didn’t Read The Sign’, ‘Hey Did You Give Some Love Today’, ‘Great Day In The Morning’. Has that familiar “one way” finger symbol on the cover. Includes guitar chords and lyrics. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).

When I was researching this album I came across this cover on the Fontana label which was released in 1972. see also 7″ single which was released in 1973.   diakoneo
