Tremblay, Maesel - Restricted

Posing with a twin—neck electric guitar, this plaid-suited chap sounds like a cross between Johnny Cash and John Ylvisaker, both vocally and musically. Maesal also plays organ, acoustic guitar, electric bass and drums — in other words all the instruments on the album. Mostly run-of-the-mill folk/country/gospel (low-rent Johnny Cash) that’s heavy on the chintzy organ sound, but there a couple times where he winds up with an oddball psych mood befitting of Sir Ylvisaker. Best examples are ‘Judas’ and the minor-key ‘Life Of Christ’, both slow lengthy organ-saturated songs with a dreamy mysterious tripped-out quality. The up-tempo ‘Everyone Is Going To Die’ is similarly blessed with a psychy organ line. Simple b&w cover with diagonal lettering stating “Restricted to persons between the ages of 3 and 103”. Pressed on a Canadian arm of the Tennessee-based Superior custom label. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet.
