Sweet Melody - Grand Revival

Low-budget amateur home-made folk recording from British youth outfit featuring ten girls and two guys, ranging in age from 12 to 18, armed with acoustic guitars, electric bass, flute, piano, organ and several Clarinets. A lot of the songs predictably fall flat, routine melodies carried along by young off-key female harmonies, But occasionally they’ll rise up above their meager means and awkwardness to present something truly special. ‘Open The Door’, for example, couples warm youthful sincerity with a hint of melancholy, while ‘0 Lord We Pray’ presents a lovely dreamy mysterious mood. A few other passable songs, usually the ones that highlight individual singers or that focus on guitar instead of piano. Most of the songs were written by their director Terry Galley. Produced by Kevin Mayhew, (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
