A quick stop at a Watseka, Illinois thrift shop rewarded me with this refreshing batch of home-made folk-rock originals from this co-ed Wisconsin outfit (at least that’s where it was recorded). Their style is melodic and flowing with some rural overtones, arranged with acoustic and electric guitars, piano, bass, drums, plus mellotron in a few places. Many of the songs pleasantly bring to mind one of my favorite groups, Rising Hope, particularly ‘John And James’, “Jehovah Jireh’, “Follow Him’ and ‘lt’s A New Day’. Others recall the acoustic rock and ballads of John Michael Talbot’s early Sparrow era. Some good electric guitar leads in a couple spots (especially the heavier title track), while ‘With’ and ‘To Walk The Road’ set their delicate moods with only acoustic guitar for backing. A very moving collection of songs that quickly grew on me. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
