The Morning Sun (Houston Education HER 1152) 1973?
Very nice batch of home-made folk and acoustic rock originals from three dudes, one of whom’s got a fairly radical pair of elephant bell-bottoms with stars on ‘em. Brisk rural feel led by the fervent strum of 12-string guitar with some good lead work on the side, balanced with pastoral ballads revealing the strength of their tight—knit soothing harmonies. Simply-arranged custom feel – only on one or two tracks do tambourine or piano join the guitars. Quality song-writing with titles like ‘The Morning Sun’, ‘Hell’, ‘Holy Spirit’, ‘Prisoner’s Prayer’ and ‘I Am’. A wholesome sound that reminds me of fellow Texans Trinity. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for pointing out George’s rear cover photo and the song list.
