The Spirit And The Bride (KBK MK 27-97) 1972
Back with a fairly low—tech home-made sound on this later independent release. The acoustic guitars, flute, percussion and overall ‘60s Catholic folk Vibe are all still in place, although a couple times the sound is expanded to include such instruments as piano and trumpet. One of the more interesting tracks is ‘Glory, Glory!’ which is backed solely by brisk snare drum patterns. ‘Number One’ and ‘Water Pot” are perky numbers that feature lively banjo strumming. Other titles include ‘American Genesis’, ‘Look To The Rock’, ‘A People Marching To Freedom’ and ‘Re-Creation’. Montague sings lead on several of the songs, occasionally deferring to Patrick Cunningham or Sister Carmelita Casso. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the song list and rear cover photo.
