Manna (Jewel LPS 362) 1973?

Manna (Jewel)

Fair-to—respectable folk/folk-rock custom from 4-guy 2-girl outfit. Mix of spiritual and secular songs presented with a humble blend of jangly acoustic guitar, piano, electric bass and drums. They appear to have a soft spot for Carole King, as they do versions of ‘Been To Canaan’, ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ and ‘I Think I Can Hear You’. Kazoo and trombone come out for a cover of John Lennon’s ‘Crippled Inside’. Other selections include ‘Gospel Changes’, ‘1 Wish We’d All Been Ready’, ‘That’s The Way God Planned It’, ‘All My Trials’, ‘Oh Happy Day’ and Randy Matthews’, ‘Hallelujah Brother’. Alternates male and female lead vocals. Custom Ohio label. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
