Driftwood (Herald HRS-5378) 1976

Malool, Gregg - Driftwood

Likeable folky soft rock album with rural acoustic guitar and piano blend, plus electric here and there. What really helps is the thick dose of mellotron (credited as organ), giving several of the songs a dreamy edge. Some MOR moments as you’d expect with the Herald label, but like Herald artists Daryl Daughtry, Manna and Bob & Maxine, the good ultimately outweighs the bad. Includes covers of Larry Norrnan’s ‘Right Here In America’ and ‘I Wish We’d All Been Ready’. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
