How Long Has It Been (Rite 40135) 1979
Warm local passions shine through on this Kentucky rural acoustic based folk-rock custom. One girl and four guys, one of whom apparently is a priest (Fr. Bob Abel). Nice understated approach throughout, from serene harmonized folk to bluesy country strolling to brisk tracks with bass and percussion. Somewhat slim on Christian content, save for the Isaiah 43—based ‘I Have Called You By Name’ and the album’s only non-original ‘Lights Of The City’. One of Abel’s songs (‘Back Home Blues) is said to have been written “during the storm of a fierce hangover”. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover and Song list.
