Open Invitation (Custom Fidelity CFS-3401) 1974
Appealing melancholy soft sounds from gentle harmonizing foursome (one female, three males) backed by 6 and 12-string acoustic guitars and piano. The guitars, when used, can come across as fairly quiet, so you often tend to primarily hear just the piano. I’m not a big piano man, but I still found a stirring melodic presence within several of these songs. Also a few welcome appearances of harmonica, flute and recorder. All original song-writing, sample titles being ‘Freeway North’, ‘Teach Me To Love’, ‘Step By Step’, ‘Thanks, God, For Everything’ and ‘New Spring Day’. Custom lp from Loma Linda University in California. B&W cover photo of cars on a freeway. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thanks Laura for the track list and group members.
