The Freeway (FourMost FM7 117 CS) 1971?
Seems like the FourMost label handed out record deals like candy to just about every Youth For Christ/Campus Life group that came knocking on their door. The Freeway is a typical FourMost release, meaning a college-age co—ed folk/pop outfit doing gleeful harmonized covers of spiritual and secular songs. These four guys and two girls from Michigan don’t exactly knock your socks off with their sparse poor-man’s renderings of ‘He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Oh Happy Day”, ‘One Less Bell To Answer’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Aquarius’ (huh?), but I still found occasional merit in the primitive electric guitar work and energetic drums. Some horns and a cappella hymns to muddle through. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo and track list. Thank you Laura for finding the group members.
