St Bartholomew's Folk Group - 5-30

17—person Catholic choral folk outfit that at times sounds similar to The Fisherfolk, especially when they stick to an acoustic guitar format. Most of the songs, however, tend to favor piano, some of which are okay while others are less consistent. Helpful touches of electric guitar, harpsichord and flute in spots, Other instruments include clarinet, organ, banjo, drums and percussion. A couple John Fischer songs, ‘Born To Die’ and ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, the latter extended by some nice jazzy acoustic guitar and piano soloing. Also covers of Paul Quinlan (‘0 Praise The Lord’), The Dameans (‘Without Clouds’) and Ray Repp (“To Be Alive”), along with ‘Day By Day’, ‘Sabbath Prayer’ and others. Looks like mostly college—age folks. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
