Youngfolk, The - I Believe

Admirable folk sounds from 4-girl 4-guy Canadian group featuring warm male/female harmonies backed by 12-string acoustic guitars, bass, tambourine and bongo percussion. Includes several Ray Repp songs, as well as covers of Sebastian Temple and Joe Wise. They manage a fair amount of charm on melancholy tunes such as ‘He’ and ‘Hear Me’ (lovable female solo vocals on the latter). Also of note are moody solemn selections like ‘We Are One’ and Repp’s ‘Of My Hands’. Banjo pops in for ‘What A Great Thing It Is’. One guy has a rather deep voice, but he blends in fine when the whole group is singing. From Windsor, Ontario. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
