Brown, Steve - Morning Prayers

An acoustic breath of fresh air featuring folk-singer and guitarist Steve Brown, assisted by Don Gerber on bass, banjo, dobro and second guitar. Sensitive vocals coupled with nice jangly twin guitar make for an authentic back—to—basics open-aired rural sound, whether stirring delicate moods, brisk finger-picked songs or lively strurnrned numbers. Includes a clever Dylan impersonation on ‘No Name Blues’, as well as covers of Larry Norman’s ‘I Wish We’d All Been Ready’ and the Louvin Brothers’ ‘The Christian Life’. Also a pair of songs from the Good News lp (the Columbia label duo), ‘Unknown Tongue’ and ‘Friend Of Friends’, plus several originals from Steve. A very heartfelt sincere work. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
