A Joyful Noise (One Way LPS-3766) 1978?
Decent California country acoustic rock custom doused with gospel and blues influences Acoustic guitar, piano, some steel guitar, harmonica and banjo, with soulful female background vocals contributing heavily to that down-South gospel edge. Gets into a bit of plugged-in country rockabilly (‘Someday I’ll Be Like Jesus’, ‘I’m Lookin’ For The Comin’ Of My Lord’) and boogie r&r (‘I’m Happy That Jesus Set Me Free’). On the other end of the spectrum are slow acoustic ballads like ‘Soon I’ll Be Home’ and ‘Has He Ever Failed You?’. He doesn’t have a twangy voice, but he’d still make a good opening act for Willie Nelson. The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Discogs for the rear cover photo and the track list.
