Leaven, The - Songs Of The Bread Of Life

This is an early home-made record by The Leaven, a Catholic folk outfit headed up by Ron Griffen. Their later albums on FEL are actually quite nice (see entries under Ron Griffen), but at this point in time they tended toward the bland. Too many members makes them basically sound like all the other nondescript guitar-strumming youth folk ensembles of the day. Consists primarily of standards like ‘Day By Day’, ‘Tramp On The Street’, “Children Go Where I Send You’, ‘Jesus Met The Woman At The Well’, etc. That trumpet isn’t helping out much either. Of interest mainly to show their humble beginnings and to complete the picture. From the Parish of Holy Trinity in San Pedro, California.   (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
