Latter Rain (Twelve Oaks T .0. 034) 1982
This particular Latter Rain is the male South Carolina duo of Mike Wainscott and Lynn Griffm. Their custom album sounds remarkably like the Pat Terry Group, which shouldn’t be surprising since the album was produced by Sonny Lallerstedt and Randy Bugg at the Twelve Oaks studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Even Mike’s vocals seem to often bear close resemblance to those of Mr Terry. Mike also supplies the acoustic guitar while Lynn plays electric bass, supplemented by Sonny (guitars), Dennis Holt (drums and percussion) and Tony Shannon (keyboards). Most of the songs have either a pleasant rural melodic folk-rock or sentimental acoustic ballad style. Sonny gets some good electric guitar action going on ‘There Will Come A Time’. Also some nice Keaggy— like lyrical touches on ‘People’, ‘Bride’, ‘Life And Freedom’ and ‘Be A Wise Man’. Features ten originals songs written by Mike (one co-written by Lynn), all with the usual high standards that accompany Twelve Oaks productions. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
