La Sallian Resource - I Will Be With You

Hidden behind this unlikely and unusual name is yet another fine example of the UK male/female Christian folk/praise album, where 6 and 12-string guitars, bass, mandolin and recorders are arranged with their usual British charm. A number of beautiful songs here: the minor-key ‘One Cold Night In Spring’; the delicate ballads ‘I Will Be With You’ and ‘Song For A Young Prophet’; ‘Gifts Of Bread And Wine’ with its lovely female lead. Mostly originals plus a cover of Carey Landry’s ‘Abba, Father’. Not as progressive as some of the better groups over there. plus there’s a trombone chiseling away the folk edge on a few songs, but still a decent record overall. Ten members, led by Damian Lundy. Catholic apparently, with connections to the order of De La Salle Brothers, hence the name of the group. Same label as the excellent Flame Loving You Gently, Lord lp. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
