Vol 4 – The Circus Tent Sings (Benson Sound LPS-9014) 1972?

New Hermeneutics, The - The Circus Tent Sings

Shifting away from the ‘60s standards into a jangly harmonized ‘70s folk style that includes covers of ‘Day By Day“, ‘The Wedding Song’, ‘Hammer Of Hope’ and a couple Melanie titles (‘Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)” and ‘Ring The Living Bell’). Also a corny rendition of ‘Old MacDonald’ where Farmer Ralph ends up eating the cow (“I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”). I notice they’ve added some fitting lead acoustic guitar to a couple songs. The best tracks continue to be originals like ‘Carry Your Light’, ‘Mystery Of The Morning’ and ‘The Galilean Man’. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
