First Love (Florida)

Pleasant home-grown recording of natural easygoing folk/folk-rock and ballads from 3-gir1 2—guy Ocala, Florida outfit. Several songs capture that familiar rural Jesus music sound, especially when banjo and/or harmonica join the picture as on “My Song’, ‘Love One Another” and the moody ‘Why’. The electric guitars pick up a bit for ‘The Change’ (courtesy of guest lead guitarist Craig Marlatt), while bongo percussion adds depth to the acoustic folk-rocker “The Rock’. Other tracks may soften the sound with keyboards or strings. Nice combination of electric piano coupled with dreamy flute on ‘Take The Time’. Leaves mild impressions of a lower-budget Parable, Suncast, 2nd Chapter Of Acts, Phoenix Sonshine, etc Mostly originals, along with the ultra-mellow ‘Praise Medley” and a cover of ‘Lord Of The Dance’. Classy painting of the group on the front cover. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
