Morning Sun (Sands Of Time S-5052/3) 1980
Dave Staigle’s custom album has a solid acoustic and rural rock format that brings to mind the music of Terry Talbot. Several songs leave relaxed pastoral impressions – the title track, ‘Nowhere To Run’, ‘Better Day’ — each with acoustic guitar in the foreground backed by a soft—rock mixture of synthesizer, electric guitar and bongo percussion. A couple songs like ‘I’ve Decided’ and ‘Hero’ take the heavier progressive country rock route, both with good vigorous electric guitar leads. In between are the moody minor—key acoustic ballad ‘Brothers And Sisters’ and the easygoing country folk of ‘Satan I Rebuke You’ and ‘Two Masters’ (the latter with jew’s-harp and mandolin). Dave’s testimony is recounted in the song ‘Rocky’. Features Dave on 6 and 12-string guitar, assisted by members of the group Shekinah (the one that released the similarly styled custom Today ’3 The Day). From Estacada, Oregon. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
