Crystal Clear (Morning Sun SRS-1128) 1979

Hill, Ron - Crystal Clear

Alabama private press with well-produced melodic soft rock and folk sound. A pleasant mellow style led by Ron’s gentle vocals and acoustic guitar, filled in with piano, string ensemble, electric guitar and other instruments. Sometimes lightly jazzed up as on the brass-backed ‘Honeysuckle’, or enlivened with harmonica on ‘Rose’. Easygoing rural rock vibe on ‘The Simple Song’. Features eleven Ron Hill songs, plus an acoustic cover of Larry Norman’s ‘The Outlaw’. Glossy gate-fold cover with a picture of Ron by a small waterfall – he looks like a decent sort of guy. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
