I’m Grateful (Myrrh MYR 1078) 1978 UK *

The Jessy Dixon Singers bring a soulful gospel edge to several tracks on I’m Grateful, including ‘A Friend Of Mine’, ‘That’s Why We’re Here’, ‘The Holy One (Has Crossed The River)’ and ‘All The Time’. Bryn Haworth returns on slide guitar and mandolin, while Cliff Richard provides backing vocals to three songs. Also of note is the presence of one time Fleetwood Mac member Bob Weston on acoustic and electric guitars, dobro and electric slide guitar. Garth’s harmonica can be found on five of the eleven songs. Favorite track: the closing ‘May You Live To Dance (On Your Own Grave)’, a kickin’ country jamrner based on the tune ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus’. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
