A Look Inside (Insideout 1001) 1979

Holmbo, Dave - A Look Inside

Dave Holmbo and his band’s energetic blend of rock and pop recalls the piano-driven style of groups like Fireworks, with tight vocal harmonies that echo those of Glad. Holmbo is the man behind the keyboards, assisted by Tom Vitaco on guitars, Brian Hendriekson on bass, and Mike Bourbon on drums. The ballads are more or less standard ccm, but there’s some good power-pop guitar crunch on tracks like ‘Brand New Start’, ‘One Man Show’ and ‘Maybe You Can Love Me’. Very sharp production for a private press. All Holmbo originals plus a cover of Chuck Girard’s ‘Just For You’. On par with most of the same era’s Myrrh and Maranatha releases. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
