Jeshua Alive (Focus FS-1031) 1979? Australia *

If you can imagine the 2nd Chapter Of Acts as an Australian folk outfit, you might come up with group like Jeshua. Although the cover doesn’t look promising (two guys and two girls with a piano and a guitar), it’s actually a rather enjoyable little record. Much of the appeal comes in that it’s a live performance before a small audience. That coupled with the fact that they’re from Australia (I adore the spoken bits between the songs). A few of the songs will be familiar: Annie Herring’s ‘Dance With You’, Janny’s ‘Sanctified’, Jamie Owens’ ‘New Jerusalem’, the traditional ‘Ain’t It Grand To Be A Christian’. A similar 2CA-ish spirit shines through original titles like ‘Soft As A Dove’, ‘Higher And Higher’, ‘New Life’, ‘Have You Heard’, ‘Hand Upon Me’ and ‘Into Light’. Sydney gospel label. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).

I have not acquired this album yet.
