We’re Not Here On Our Own (LRC RSR 1238) 1982
Choice rural acoustic rock sounds on this West Virginia custom. Similar to early John Michael Talbot or maybe a more aggressive cutting-edge Don Francisco. We ’re Not Here On Our Own contains nine of Dan’s songs, featuring Dan on vocals and acoustic guitar, plus guests on electric guitar, electric and acoustic piano, synth, drums, bass and harmonica. Crosses into rock-and-roll for ‘Hallelujah High’ (with slick electric guitar work) and the piano-bangin’ ‘That’s What We Call The Good News’. Good synthesizer action on the ballad ‘Answered Prayer’ as well as the brisk closing folk-rock tracks ‘Ode To A Pharisee’ and the title song. Another firm ‘80s keeper.
