Lettin’ My Light Shine (Airborne LPS 2556) 1978
Young female singer/songwriter who toys around with pop, jazz, country, rock, ballads, funk and disco on her well-produced private press. Full arrangements and numerous musicians, including piano, electric guitar, synthesizer, strings and horns. A mellow affair for the most part, but she does manage a few sassy brass grooves on tracks like ‘This Little Light Of Mine’ and ‘Liar’ (I can already envision record dealers tossing out words like “breaks!” and “loops!”). I especially liked the Seawind-ish jazz-rock edges on the final two tracks, ‘Ode To My Friend’ and ‘It’s Comin’. Custom label from Santa Ana, California (no relation to the other Airborn). (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
