Jesus Is The One (Freedom Prison Ministry, no#) 1980?
Country/light-rock/ccm custom from Mississippi District Of Freedom Prison Ministry. Arrangements favor a natural Nashville-styled rural approach, without any orchestration or synths. She apparently digs Gary S. Paxton, including covers of four of his songs. Also a version of Dylan’s ‘Serve Somebody’ where she gets a pretty good snarl going. Some of the songs have a pleasant Emmylou Harris appeal, especially the fiddle-accompanied ‘If Jesus Changed Your Life (He’ll Change Your Song)’. Home-made cover art showing Jesus with a prisoner in a jail cell; outside the window you can see the Ball & Chain Lounge and The Shackle Club. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
