Becoming is the trio of Suzanne Line (piano), Barbara Lozinski (guitar, electric piano) and Vickie Mortensen (guitar), plus others adding drums, bass, violin, trumpet and additional guitar and vocals. I didn’t realize it was a female group until I looked at the names, as one of them has a fairly low voice. Their custom lp has a number of acoustic ballads, including ‘Speak Soflly’, ‘Tell The World’, ‘Visions’, ‘Child Do You Know’ and ‘Wise Man’. ‘The Comforter’ makes for a nice country folk-rock opener. They also delve into piano ballads, hymns and a bit of gospel. Twelve original songs in all. A few drab moments, but an okay record overall, with more of a ‘70s sound than ‘80s. Beautiful circular b&w cover design of three butterflies. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
