I Shall Be Released (Mark MC 5035) 1974?
Some youthful charm and home grown appeal can be found within this 3 girl 1-guy teen outfit’s sparse primitive folk/pop custom. Two of the girls provide the vocals, backed by a simple low-fi blend of electric piano, acoustic guitar, bass and drums. Side one makes me smile as they take on such pop hits of the day as ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’, ‘Color My World’ and ‘Don’t Expect Me To Be Your Friend’. Side two is the spiritual side, acoustic guitar replacing electric piano on four of the five songs, including ‘He Died On The Cross’, ‘One More Day’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Something Strange’, the latter adding some fitting flute backing. B&w cover photo of the foursome jumping down some steps. Back cover is blank. Label shows a Moorhead, Minnesota address. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet.
