The Ecclesiastical Folk Singers (RCA Custom 80]N—9995) 1966?

Eccliastical Folk Singers, The

Stone-age live concert recording featuring four collared Lutheran seminarians horsing around with an acoustic guitar, a set of bongos, assorted hand held percussion and a menu of lively folk songs and spirituals. Lighthearted mood for the most part, including portions where they can barely sing because they’re on the verge of bursting out laughing. Twenty-one selections in all, with spoken introductions to the audience retained. Some familiar material (‘Every Time I Feel The Spirit’, ‘Dem Bones’, ‘Kumbaja’, ‘Everybody Gonna Pray’, ‘Five Hundred Miles’), as well as many more obscure titles. Includes three pieces written by John Ylvisaker: ‘Prepare To Abandon Ship’ and spoken readings of ‘Flesh Of My Flesh’ and ‘That’s The Thing I Don’t Like About Jesus’, the latter with a previously unheard verse. Ancient looking b&w cover photo. Courtesy of Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary in Minneapolis. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
