Lead On (Artist’s Records 730506) 1973
Young guy with a guitar, I’d say probably late teens, who rounded up some friends for a backup band and cut this fine homemade acoustic rock record. Guitars, bass, piano, drums and male/female bgvs all get presented with fresh amateur excitement. Some good jangly 12-string sounds, like the folk-rock covers of ‘My Sweet Lord’ and ‘Teach Your Children’ as well as ballads like ‘Sweet Blues’ or Larry Norman’s ‘Wish We’d All Been Ready’. The best tracks, however, are those written either by Dan or his cohorts. Has that generic blue cover illustration of people reaching their hands up to a big hand in the sky. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
I have not acquired this album yet. Thank you Brian for sending the track list. Thank you Donald for the better rear cover photo.
