Give Us Peace (Agape ARS 1011) 1974
Give Us Peace deals with the themes of love and peace while looking back to the mellow folk, pop and rock style heard on The Time Has Not Come True. These are melodic, optimistic songs, usually carried along by a light beat and either piano or electric piano. Acoustic guitar in there as well, although a few like ‘Say The Word Again’ and ‘Mother 0 Night’ work in electric guitar. Light pastoral air on ‘East And Wes Winds’ and ‘When Will Dawn Break’, while ‘There, Let Me Bring 11 Love’ makes use of mandolin. ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ and ‘Blessed Is The Name Of Love’ hint at the moodier direction Catholic music would soon be taking. A few male/female backup singers helping him out. Later re-issued on Repp’s K&R label. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
Thank you Donald for the K & R album covers.
