Jesus (Decca SLK 16744-P) 1971? Germany *
Full artist name: Jeremy Faith and the St. Mathews Church Choir. From what I could find Jeremy Faith is a stage name for Michel Berger, aka Michel Hamburger, a pianist born in Paris. There are a number of pressings for this album on labels like Decca and London, and it was apparently released in several different countries. Sure sounds like fully-produced mainstream commercial rock circa 1970, with some heavy moves here and there, including hard-edged rocking guitar on ‘You Are My Lord J’ and ‘Jerusalem Road 63’. The choir grooves right along, providing soulful gospel touches throughout. Recorded in Los Angeles. Right up there with other big-sound mainline recordings by US Apple Corps, Sweet Revival, Street Christians and Canadian Rock Theatre. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
