And Comes A Time (ASM-474-RE)  1981

Daybreak - And Comes A Time

The most obscure of the later Daybreak recordings also happens to be their best. ‘Lead On’ and ‘Wrapped Up Tight’ put forth some tough arena rock muscle that rivals the best of Petra, while the keyboard-rich ‘Pavilion’ and title track both gleam with the excitement of heavy prog-art rockers Styx. The guitars kick on all of these, too. Clavinet and spunky horns lead the infectious funky dance groove of ‘Fear Not’. Three fine slower tracks fill out the album, evoking the Daybreak of old on ‘Feelings’ and ‘Because It’s True’, or DeGarmo & Key on the rural acoustic ballad ‘Jonathan’.    (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
