Disco-Teach Album 6  (Abingdon  800056)  1972

One of their tamer volumes (no fuzz) that emphasizes acoustic guitar and piano, but as always their song selection and commentary are entertaining.  On album six you’ll find covers of Jonathan Edwards’ ‘Sunshine’, John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’, ‘John Denver’s ‘Friends With You’ and a valiant attempt at ‘American Pie’.  I was initially irritated to hear  them open with ‘I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing’ (featuring female singers), but my frown turned to a smile when the ensuing commentator described the song as a “sorry example of what pop music stands for”.  All of these volumes have the same front cover and packaging style.      (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
