Busy Day  (Avant Garde  AVS 110)  1968

Comeau, Bill - Busy Day

There are boring kids records and there are3 cool kids records.  The Best ones are where you can’t even tell it’s a kids record, and I’d have to put the majority of Bill Comeeau’s Busy Day into that category.  The familiar Avant Garde electric folk-with-rhythm style of the period works its way into thirteen original humor-infused songs with titles like ‘A Touch Of Lemon’, ‘Fish Wish’, ‘The Big G Stands For…’, ‘Bringing Freedom’, Jello Man’, ‘You’ve Got To Look Hard’ and ‘Hail To Thee’.  At bare minimum you’ve absolutely got yo hear ‘Talking Pets’, a delightful hilarious animated song in Bob Dylan’s harmonica-backed talking-blues style.  At the time of this recording Bill was the Minister To Youth at the First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich, Connecticut.      (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
