The Monday Night Prayer Group Unlimited  (no label  NR9799)  1978?

The main attraction for this 4-guy 2-gal Florida custom would have to be the presence of Joyful Noise guitarist Ralph Strait.  And if you’ve had the opportunity to hear any of their three homemade albums then you know that Ralph has a ball with his guitar.  Though the Monday Night Prayer Group Unlimited is much tamer than his previous band , he does get  a few opportunities  to noodle around here, including a fuzz-filled re-working of  Electric Gospel‘s ‘Joy’.  Much of MNPGU, however, is mellow and restrained, covering standards like ‘Lay You Burden Down’, ‘Soon And Very Soon’ and others, plus about three or four originals.  Mostly a basement gospelly light rock sound but with an edge surfacing here and there to keep things interesting.     (The Archivist, 4th edition  by Ken Scott).
