A Better Day (Fourmost FM7124) 1972
If you get just one Steve & Maria album make it this one. A Better Day is a surprisingly outing, a good half the songs giving you the guy/gal folk-pop duo of your dreams. They still have their share of filler like ‘People Got To Be Free’ and ‘I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing’, but originals like ‘Wonder Song’, ‘A Different Tomorrow’, ‘War Song’ and the title tune are all A-1 hip tracks, with electric guitar, organ and harpsichord providing subtle flower power touches. On the whole I’d say rather groovy. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
Thank you Donald for the front and rear cover photos of the Word records album.

We have been desperately searching for a song my mother remembers. The information she has is either “Melitta’s Song” or “Have You Ever Seen a Rose”. She thought it was sung by Sonfolk, but we’ve found their album and it doesn’t appear to be on that. She thinks she heard it at a Marriage Encounter Retreat in the 1970s in Minnesota. Do you have any clue what she is talking about? Please email me if you do. Thank you so much, Dana McCabe
