Songs… It’s Serious (no label no #)  1979

I’d put Garth Fletcher in the same category as early Michael Omartian and Andy Pratt – keyboards artist that can rock, but also work in mild progressive, classical and jazz edges with a rich sense of melody.  Garth and crew seem to know the balance well on the splendid custom production.  The ballads are especially   moving – ‘Tender Loving Ways’ and ‘Where Are You Going?’ both take you away with their sweeping lyrical blend of piano and strings (violin, viola and cello).  The same instruments soar magically on the graceful ‘Marquita’, perhaps the album’s most beautiful track.  Funk-rock is faithfully represented with ‘Peace Train’, the high energy ‘Marching On Up’ and the Sweet Comfort-ish ‘Spirit’.  All eight titles written and arranged by Garth.      (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
