Next Stop Heaven (Wenra 43541) 1973?
Fun local-yokel California custom of country rockabilly, ballads and twangy electric r&r, with homey rural amateur appeal. Just the basics here: rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass and drums. Lively electric guitar work throughout, with a few effects tossed in (like that cool surf-band twang on ‘When Jesus Comes To Take Me Back Home’). One of the lead singers can sound a little like Elvis, getting somewhat carried away with the vibrato on one song (where my son likened him to a sheep). Half originals, half stuff like ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’, ‘River Of Life’, ‘Feelin’ Mighty Fine’ and ‘Let’s All Go Down By The River’. Simple b&w circular cover photo showing the four guys and girl standing on the back of a train. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
