NEW FOLK (1)

Country Faith! (Impact  R3254)   1973

Same label but completely different band from above.  As the Randy Matthews title tune suggest these co-ed folksters (four guys, two girls) have a friendly down-home country de meaner, served with mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, banjo, dobro and a big dose of steel guitar.  ‘Distinct Awakening’, ‘Fulton County Fair’ and the title track get lively rural grooves going, while ballads like ‘Waiting For Elijah’ and ‘Joel’ ease along within natural country-enhanced acoustic settings.  In between are some decent folkrock moods like ‘Have You Heard’.  Nice rustic layered guy/gal harmonies spicing up a few tracks.  Still smoothed over to a degree with a couple MOR clunkers, but overall in the words of ol’ Randy himself “it’s good enough fer me”.      (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).

  2. Click on the word Image in the post where the art work usually is or click where it usually is and it should come up. I’m working on trying to get those images to display, may still take a few days.
