Through The Narrow Gate (Lamb Of God  LOG 001)  1979

Song Of The Lamb front

Fresh spirited sounds of the acoustic country folkrock variety from talented male/female group of five.  Acoustic guitars naturally, plus piano, banjo, bass, drums, organ, and some excellent harmonica.  Good vocals and standout guitar work, with moving songwriting that ranges from brisk upbeat tracks with an almost bluegrass edge (‘New Jerusalem’, ‘Sowin’ On A Mountain’) to stirring heartfelt ballads (‘You Shall Love’, ‘The Pearl’), to catchy mid-tempo numbers with a ‘City Of New Orleans’ feel (‘Dusty Traveler’, ‘The Pilgrim Song’).  Most songs written by the group, along with a cover of 2nd Chapter’s ‘I Don’t Wanna Go Home’.  Attractive synthesizer and electric guitar are backed  by ethereal harmonies on the cloing ‘Psalm 37’.  A very gratifying homemade production from the Lamb Of God Community in Timonium, Maryland.   (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).

Thanks John for the music.
