High Country (Pilgrim 461) 1979 UK *

There’s a good reason these boys have the word “country” in their name, and this album steps further in the direction of the “c” word.  If you’re a Statler Brothers fan you’re in luck since they do four of their songs.  Also covers of Don Williams (‘You’re My Best Friend’, ‘Til The Rivers Run Dry’), Kris Krisofferson (‘One Day At A Time’) along with traditionals like ‘You Can’t Be A Beacon’ and ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus’.  Steel guitar is well represented, plus there’s some banjo, dobro, fiddle and harmonica.  Front cover and record label say “featuring Ronnie Magee” beneath the band name. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
