Heirborn (Abba no #)(New Born NB 7019) 1979
A few echoes of The Way’s Can It Be can be found on this five-man Spokane, Washington band’s debut which dabbles with Southern, rural and honky-tonk rock with commendable results. Originally a custom press in a rather simple cover, the New Born label picked it up (NB 7019) and put a rainbow-and-clouds design behind the logo. Some of the ballads have that mellow soft jazz feel – a few less of those and a few more heavier rocking tracks like ‘Devil’s Friend’ and these guys might have ended up on New Born’s crank-it-up sister label Tunesmith. Still there’s enough middle-ground rock edge here to satisfy along with several admirable guitar leads. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).

Thanks Mr. D….been looking for this one for a while
Oh, I like – I like. Lately I’ve been getting back into the early Agape sound, so rock in any form or blend is going be a pure moment. I know you go for the lighter side, but have you ever come across any rare-out-of-dates by early Agape (perhaps a bootleg live album, or such like) ? Thanks again for the splendid work. Blessings, E.
Didn’t they have a follow-up album called “Undercover Christian?” I got to see them play in the early 80s, and they were quite good.
I just dug up my records from storage, and I have this album (the one with the rainbows and clouds) and the back is signed by all the members! I heard them in concert in Oregon at that time, and the irony is that I now live in Spokane where they originated. They must have played in Salem, Albany or Portland. Great memories of this band!
Thanks everyone for digging our music! This was an amazing time for Christian music
Thanks everyone for digging our music! This was an amazing time for music! Some current info on the band…Ben Mayo (bass, vocals) lives in Yakima WA.; Michael Lehnen (lead guitar, vocals) lives in Sydney Australia; Dave Wold (keyboards, vocals) lives in Las Vegas, NV.; Rob Neuschwander (drums, vocals) lives in Vancouver, WA.; and Yours truly lives in San Diego, CA. Most of the band is still involved in ministry in one form or another! Peace!
I love it rob is my father, he inspired me to play and I still do today. I am looking for more memerobilia for my dad he has little none and I want to pass it on to my kids.
Mr. Rob Neuschwander is our wonderful Pastor at Riverview Community Church in Kalama, Wa. He delivers every Sunday and now as the Youth Pastor mid week. My son is 13 and really enjoys Pastor Rob’s messages. I’m going to share Pastor Rob’s early music with my kids.
