Godsong (PRS LP 101) 1978
Two-guy two-girl California acoustic folk-rock group with simply-arranged enjoyable melodic style. Members are John Kubal (guitar), Jane Kubal (conga drums, percussion), Paul Dobies (piano, organ, bass, drums) and Barbara Dobies (percussion), with all four on vocals (appears to be one of those husband/wife Ellis & Lynch sort of setups). Folky vibes on most all the songs, including the opening ‘God’s Song, God’s Way’ (sounds similar to Dogwood), ‘Alleluia’ (strummed folk), ‘Wake Up Rejoicing! (folk/pop) and ‘Cleansed By The Blood Of The Lamb’ (folk/gospel). Bass and drums often nudge their sound from folk into folk-rock, especially on the exuberant ‘Let It Shine!’ and the closing ‘Sing Out!’. Ten original songs in all. A custom production of Parish Renewal Service in Rowland Heights, California. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
Thank you Ken for the front cover photo.
